Final Evaluation

1) Why are Photography and Film important in Creative Media? Photography and Film are both vital in creative media because they tell stories, capture emotions within the audience, and share ideas visually through their work. Photography freezes moments in time, while film brings stories to life with motion and sound. Both aim to connect people and inspire creativity, helping individuals see the world in new ways.

2) What did I use to create a website for my project? For my project, I used Wix to create a new site and named it Site 2. From there, I created pages in the menu section, naming each one after the photographer I was learning about. I designed each page according to the specific photographer, aiming to reflect their style and the vibe I perceived from them. For the homepage, I discussed Style, Motif, and Homage, explaining what they are.

3) How did I use research to develop my ideas? My favourite photographers were Nadav Kander, Stephanie Jung, and David Hockney. I particularly enjoyed researching them because it was fun, and I found their photography interesting and captivating. I liked discovering various facts about them; for instance, I learned that Nadav Kander is Israeli and lived in South Africa after his dad resigned from the army.

4) What is my favourite experiment and why? What techniques did I use in this experiment? My favourite experiment was with Stephanie Jung. I appreciated her work, especially the multiple exposure techniques that I edited in Photoshop. I enjoyed taking several pictures from the same area and combining them into one frame. I find Stephanie Jung's work fascinating and unique; I admire how she merges multiple photos into one image.

5) What have I learnt from this project? How? Why? I learnt how to take photographs using professional cameras and how to use props like gels to make images appear brighter or darker. I acquired new skills by capturing different types of photos and angling the camera in various ways based on the photographer I was studying. I also gained new abilities in photography, by taking portraits of people I did not know well, just like actual photographers would have to do.

6) What did I find difficult in the project? How? Why?  The most challenging part was researching the photographers' photos. I had to delve deep and learn about different camera techniques and identify which one each photographer was using and how they used them.

7) What techniques would I like to explore in future projects?  In the future, I would like to experiment with a soft focus and glow effect using warm lighting to create nostalgic, dreamlike photos. My goal is to capture images that convey a dreamy and ethereal vibe, similar to the photos below.
