Stephaine Jung

foto.jpg.jpg

Stephanie Jung was born in 1989 in southwestern Germany, she discovered her passion for photography during her studies in Visual Communications. Since 2012 she has worked as a freelance photographer, focusing on fine arts, portraits and experimental photography. She is known for her multiple-exposure photos that capture the true essence of an urban lifestyle. She has travelled around the world and has been to many cities to capture fleeting moments. Some cities include: Tokyo, New York and Berlin. Her art has been exhibited internationally in cities like Milan, New York and Orlando. She currently works as a medical photographer at the University Clinic in Heidelberg Germany, balancing her fine art practice with technical photography work.

Style and Motfi

What are the main styles and motifs of Stephaine Jung? Stephanie Jung's main style is experimental multiple exposures and creating layered surreal images that convey motion and the passage of time. Her work often has vibrant colours and uses dynamic lighting that gives off a dreamlike quality that explores urban chaos and fleeting moments.

Her main motifs are urban landscapes, busy cities and abstract elements of nature. She does all of this to interplay stillness and movement within the photos.

Why do you think she used these styles and motifs? I think Stephaine Jung uses these styles and motifs to visually capture transience and time, which seem to fade away as we experience them. I think she wanted to show the difference between urban and rural cities in fleeting moments.

In urban cities filled with noise and chaos, her photos appear vibrant and dynamic, showcasing bright lights and numerous of people.

Whereas in more rural cities her photos appear more melancholy and solitary. They give off a vibe of stillness and quietness like the photos are at peace with themself

How has she achieved these? Stephaine Jung achieves her distinctive photography through the use of multiple exposure techniques, where she layers several shots of the same scene into one image, almost like David Hockney and his collages. This creates a surreal, fragmented effect that represents different moments within the same space.

Extension

Where is it set, and why? The image appears to be set in a busy urban street, likely in Tokyo, Japan, as suggested by the neon lights and Japanese characters and signs. The vibrant lights and bustling atmosphere reflect a lively and energetic city.

Who/What can you see in the photo? The photograph is quite blurry and captures cars and pedestrians navigating a crowded street. We see neon lights dominating the scenery of tall buildings and signs

When was it made/set, and why? The photo was likely developed recently judging by the modern cars and urban environment. The use of digital multiple-exposure techniques suggests that it was created in the 21st century.

What are the style and motif of the Photographer?

Stephaine Jung has taken multiple photographs of Tokyo and layered them together. The images are not perfectly aligned but are slightly offset to reveal parts of the original photo. The merging lights create a sense of confusion and distortion, leaving the viewers feeling overwhelmed and dazed by the city's vibrancy.

How do my photos represent the style and motif of photographer Stephaine Jung?

CityMy city photos represent Stephanie Jung's style and motif through the use of multiple exposure techniques that I edited in Photoshop, to mimic her layered approach. I captured images while standing in urban environments, focusing on cars and pedestrians. I did this to capture the vibrancy and essence of a city lifestyle. From the shots I took, I went to layer them in Photoshop to produce a multiple-exposure photo. I intentionally selected images that had cars moving at the same time to show movement and time passing.

Nature-For my nature photos, I tried to copy Stephanie Jung by first, setting the camera to shutter speed mode and capturing my images whilst turning the camera upside down to achieve a blurred motion effect. After that, I went to Lightroom to edit my nature photos to make the colours more vibrant and make the blurred signs more distinct and visible.

Extra photos- For my extra photos I combined all the editing styles that I learned but made the photos appear slightly different by changing the gradient and choosing more vibrant and out-there colours. I played around with the edits in Lightroom to make the photos seem different but still like Stephanie Jung's photos.
